At Hengoed Park, we believe a smile can brighten even the cloudiest of days and thanks to the Care to Smile programme, our residents and staff have even more reason to show off theirs!
Care to Smile is a locally developed NHS programme designed to improve the oral health of residents in residential and nursing care homes.
Hengoed Park has been involved with this programme for over a year now as we know good oral health isn’t just about sparkling smiles it’s a key part of staying healthy and happy. Poor oral health has been linked to wider health issues, so we’re making sure brushing, cleaning and caring for smiles is just as important as a good cup of tea and a chat!
Through Care to Smile, our oral health champion, Karen, has gained brilliant knowledge and practical skills that have been applied within the home. She supports staff training with the wider team and residents themselves in order to promote good oral health.
We’re also thrilled that Karen has recently been nominated for her outstanding dedication to promoting good oral health within the care to smile awards. Karen’s passion and enthusiasm have made good oral health care a natural part of daily life here. Good Luck Kaz!
