This article is part of our “Day in the Life” series, where we shine a light on the dedicated individuals who help make Hengoed Park a warm, caring, and supportive place to live and work. From support workers to kitchen staff, activities coordinators and housekeepers, every member of our team plays an important role in enhancing the lives of our residents each day.
In this edition, we take a closer look at the role of a Support Worker — a rewarding and varied position centred around compassion, dignity, and person-centred care. Support workers are often at the heart of daily life within the home, providing practical assistance, emotional reassurance, companionship, and encouragement to residents while helping them maintain independence and wellbeing. Every interaction, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference to a resident’s day.
No two days are ever the same within a care home environment, and our support workers play an essential role in creating a warm, welcoming, and positive atmosphere for those we support. Their commitment, teamwork, and kindness help build strong relationships and promote dignity, wellbeing, and quality of life for everyone in our care.
We recently spoke with one of our dedicated support workers, Cath, to gain an insight into her role, what motivates her, and what makes working in care so meaningful.
